BRITISH COMPUTER SOCIETY CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST GROUP
The specialist group for Change, Release and Configuration Management

2nd BCS CMSG Conference Cambridge 21 & 22 June 2005

The World of Change, Configuration and Release Management

Following on from the success of our 1st Conference in 2003, the 2nd Conference of the British Computer Society Configuration Management Specialist Group (BCS CMSG) will be held 21 & 22 June, 2005, at Homerton College in Cambridge. The conference will bring together managers and practitioners working in Change, Configuration and Release management. Presentations by practitioners and world leaders in the field will cover a wide variety of topics.

The conference objectives are to encourage the cross fertilisation of Change, Configuration Management and Release Management best practices across different worlds and explore collaborative ways of working that enable better management of configurations.

As business and technology changes rapidly we need to focus on the future while coping with the present: how can we manage e-commerce applications; web configurations and content; large complex configurations? Are there new standards and tools that will help us leap forward? How do we sell the processes and prove that best practice helps organisations achieve their goals? How do we develop as professionals? We welcome both newcomers and old hands to the BCS CMSG sharing experiences and lessons learnt.

The conference themes are:

  • Change, Configuration and Release Management as practised in large-scale Systems Integration programmes and projects.
  • Change, Configuration and Release Management best practices for software development in commercial environments e.g. better, faster, cheaper.
  • Configuration management across the lifecycle from development to the live environment, including service management.

Venue

Cambridge is a historic and exciting city and Homerton College is close to the heart of it. The conference venue is within walking distance of the station. Cambridge can easily be reached by train, plane and car.

Conference Programme

The conference programme will consist of plenary, parallel, poster and workshop sessions in Change, Configuration and Release management. In addition, panel discussions, special interest group sessions, vendor displays, exhibits, demonstrations and meetings and other related gatherings will be scheduled. The conference schedule will provide time for relaxed social and professional interaction.

Submissions should be relevant to the conference themes. The CMSG would particularly like to hear from potential speakers sharing their own experiences.
