Show me the money... identifying the value of Configuration Management.
A workshop session to help
new and experienced CM practitioners understand and communicate the value of
CM to bosses, colleagues and others.
Making configuration
management (CM) a part of everyday activity in IT doesn’t happen by chance.
At a moment in time, money or resources (or both) will be focused on
creating a knowledge base of IT components and their dependencies. Part of
this process is communicating the value of CM to colleagues at all levels,
many of whom see it as putting in foundations for a building that is already
built. In practice, the costs of maintenance and the inevitable high profile
disaster emphasise the reason for having foundations. Whether it be software
code, network infrastructure, ITIL service descriptions, or at the lowest
level cabling – how do you identify and communicate the value of a common
knowledge base from which to manage change? If you believe that CM should be
either introduced or broadened in scope in your organisation then come along
and participate.
This is a format (evening
event) which the CMSG hasn't tried for some time, and we look forward to
being able to run more of these, and in particular at venues outside London.
